Automate EVERYTHING

So, a couple of weeks ago, I was having a beer with a new friend I made in New York.

He is also into Computational Design.

And we were talking about our work while playing pool in a basement.

We talked a bit about n8n.

And today I thought I wanted to talk to you about it too.

Maybe you know what it is, maybe you don’t.

Maybe you have tried it and played a bit with it.

Maybe not.

What is n8n?

n8n is also visual scripting: like Grasshopper and ComfyUI.

n8n is also open source: free to use.

n8n is really good with workflow automation.

What type of workflow automation?

It´s similar to Zapier or Make (which you might, or might not know).

You can connect different apps together, to create automated workflows.

Like: WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, call APIs…

How can we use this in Computational Design?

I don´t know. You tell me 😁

One example:

I am creating a web app (a personal project, with potential to become something else).

To generate automatically illustrated travel diaries.

I went to NY for a week, and I want a travel journal of my trip, with illustrations.

With n8n, I have created the backend of this app:

1. It gets the description of the trip.

2. Different agents rewrite and organize the text into chapters.

3. Generate prompts to create images.

4. Generate the images with ComfyUI.

5. Assembles everything into a book.

6. Generates a PDF.

All this. Automated. Connected through different n8n nodes.

It makes automating processes much faster.

We love visual scripting.
