Hi,

I am writing this post with a huge lack of sleep.

Last week I was approached by our Dubai team to help them on a project.

A flash project.

They had to develop 3 different options.

Facade.

They had the idea for two options and wanted me to propose the third one.

Surprise us.

Use parametric design.

….

Well, they were using SketchUp to develop the other options.

The 3d.

Now the problem is that SketchUp or Rhino without Grasshopper…

Those two, by themselves, are not parametric.

So when the program of the building changes…

Then modifying the design, the facade…

you have to do it all over again…

from scratch.

…

I find that process especially painful.

What I did is I created a couple of scripts to apply both of their options to a simple massing.

Using Grasshopper. Of course.

The cool trick.

Some of the volumes had different properties, like permeability or the type of crown.

I used the object attributes to insert parameters in the geometry.

Then generate what they need automatically using Grasshopper.

I just sent them the third option.

I am going to sleep.
