Maps with Rhino
Hello,
This morning, I saw a post from Omkar Bhagwat.
He is creating an app to connect Open Street Maps with Rhino.
Very cool concept.
There is a Grasshopper Plugin, ELK, to get GIS data into Rhino.
I am no expert using the plugin.
And its latest update in Food4Rhino is from 2011…
But this plugin works like this:
Extract OMS (GIS) data and organize it with Grasshopper.
Get roads, lots, paths, water bodies, green areas, and building info… as Rhino geometry.
Extract information from a specific place as geometry.
The last time I used the plugin was at least 4 years ago…
And I didn´t need to get Geo Data with GH lately.
That´s why I want to ask you.
If you have experience with extracting GIS data.
What is your preferred way to get Geo Data into Rhino, using Grasshopper?
…
Well, what Omkar is doing is:
“I've been developing a Rhino app that connects directly to OpenStreetMap (OSM), allowing users to bring real-world spatial data into Rhino.”
Have a nice end of the week!
