The billionaire

And Rhino, Grasshopper and Revit

Hi, this is Isma 👋

While connecting and talking with people in the Bahamas, I ended up meeting the family office of a billionaire.

The way we connected was a little surreal. But that’s not the point.

This man bought a large portion of an island here in the Bahamas and is building a resort.

His family office is a studio that designs and brings his ideas to life.

Well, I met them, and we talked about our work (what they do and what I do), exploring possible collaborations.

And we found a potential one to start with.

They have a bit of a “hot potato.” An iconic building that’s already been designed. It’s relatively complex and will be manufactured in Asia.

There are challenges: manufacturing abroad, assembling it on-site, and the structural design, since this is a hurricane zone.

They shared the project files with me.

Revit files.

Rhino files.

Grasshopper files.

Here’s how they (and their consultants) structured the project:

  • The main building was done natively in Revit.

  • The complex structure/envelope was done in Rhino and Grasshopper.

  • Then they brought the geometry from Rhino into Revit.

I like this way of working.

If you know Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper (via Rhino.Inside),
you’re among a small percentage of people who will feel comfortable navigating projects like this.

Specific examples and more visual info coming your way soon.

Have a nice week!

Isma
