The only useful way to combine AI and Parametric Design

Use AI chatbots to create specific parts of your scripts

With all the AI HYPEโ€ฆ ๐Ÿค–

We all want to know how and where can we use AI in any aspect of our lives and jobs.

I have found myself with only one useful and consistent way to apply AI to my daily work: In parametric design.

And that is:

โ

Use chatbots like ChatGpt or Claude.ai to create very specific parts of your scripts. Specifically those actions that are not very complex, not very creative and very much logical or mathematical.

One that works quite nice is the Grasshopper for Rhino GPT from ChatGPT. ๐Ÿ‘‡๏ธ

You can fin it at the left hand side of the screen:

๐Ÿ’ก How to combine Grasshopper (or Dynamo) with AI:

What I do is ask the chatbot to create a python script using Grasshopper/Rhino APIs.

And then I copy the code.

I create a Python component in Grasshopper.

And I paste the code inside and adapt the python component.

๐Ÿง  Example:

You have a closed polyline, that is not coplanar and is closed.

And you want to create a surface or a triangulated mess, using that polyline as the perimeter.

There might be a native way to do that, or a certain plugin.

But you can also ask the chatbot and create a python component yourself.

And it will be ready in literally 2 minutes (if there is no hallucination in the code)

๐Ÿ’ Tip:

The more I use it.

The more I understand the limitations and how to get the results I want.
